BNL Group Ride October 31

Throughout the 2010 cycling season there were a number of successful group rides for various skill levels.  The BNL Board thought that it would be fun to get everyone together for one last group ride of the season.  We also thought that it would be nice to hold this ride in support of a local charity and have chosen the Ronald McDonald House Charity who are building a Ronald McDonald House in St. John’s.  If you could make a donation of $5 that would be very much appreciated.

The route has been chosen so that everyone, no matter what your skill level, can come out and participate.   It is approximately 30km and offers varied terrain. There is an optional 7km loop at the end featuring a climb up Tucker’s Hill for those who want an extra challenge.

The event will take place Sunday, October 31st and will run rain or shine.  We will meet in the parking lot of the St. Philip’s marina and the ride will commence at 10:30am.

The route is as follows:
- Start at St. Philip’s marina and ride up Thorburn Rd. to Sun Shine Park and turn left on Bennett’s Road
- Ride Bennett’s Rd. to Old Broad Cove Rd where we’ll turn left and continue to the end
- Turn right on Tucker’s Hill / Beachy Cove Rd. where we’ll ride into Portugal Cove
- We’ll climb out of Portugal Cove and continue to Old Broad Cove Rd.
- Turn right on Old Broad Cove Rd. and ride until we turn left on Bennett’s Rd. where we’ll ride back to Thorburn Rd.
- Turn right and coast down Throburn Rd. all the way back to the St. Philip’s marina parking lot

For the optional 7km loop, veer right onto Tucker’s Hill Road, climb Tucker’s hill and then turn right on to Old Broad Cove Rd.  From there we’ll turn right onto Tolt road, ride that back to Thorburn Rd. and then coast on home to St. Philip’s marina.

We hope that you all can come out for a fun final group ride of the 2010 season as well as to support this great cause.

Most Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Bicycle Newfoundland Labrador
