Sheldon Smith finished 4th while Jordan Hodder took 8th in the Junior Mens category at the US Open Downhill Mountain Bike event in Vernon New Jersey this past weekend.

These great performances follow last weekend’s excellent showing at the Canada Cup in Mont Tremblent Quebec where Hodder finished 4th and Smith finished 7th.

In each event both Smith and Hodder were the top 17-year-olds in the category. Congratulations on excellent performances and best of luck with the remainder of your seasons!

Next Sunday June 5 will see a bunch of Mountain Bike enthusiasts converge on Richmond Hill to do some work on the trails. If you can spare a couple of hours to help out drop an email to mreccord@gmail.com and meet 9am at the fire road on Huntingdale Drive.

The Short Track Mountain Bike Series returns to an improved, extended course in Pippy Park for the 2011 season with the first of 8 events this Tuesday evening May 31. See HERE for more details.

This summer will see a variety of CAN-BIKE courses offered through the City of St.John’s designed to improve your riding skills, safety and overall confidence on the bike. There are courses for adults, youth, kids, and even a course tailored to women.
